Being impartial to a cocktail or two, it's safe to say I've visited a fair few bars and lounges since embarking on this Asia Pacific adventure in January - Hong Kong for example is renowned for its nightlife and prevalence of rooftop bars - but none so far compare to the exclusiveness and extravagance of that of Supper Club at the InterContinental Sydney.
If you've ever had the fortune of staying with Intercontinental, you'll know that high quality service is their ethos and that this is remarkably consistent throughout all of their branches across the globe. That being said, each hotel possesses its own unique character and the InterContinental Sydney, set within a well presented Treasury Building from 1851, articulates legacy and heritage blended seamlessly with modern luxury and opulence.
So why the secret?
The elusive Supper Club originally opened its doors to Club InterContinental members only, but has since welcomed members of the public on a reservation basis to share its breathtaking vistas of Sydney harbour and delicious bespoke cocktails mixed by their very own mixologist John Toubia. Forget grabbing a couple of drinks at a bar, Supper Club offers an immersive cocktail lounge experience - you won't find Sydney Harbour views so undisturbed than those up on the 32nd floor or cocktails individually hand crafted by an expert in-house mixologist.
John very kindly takes the time to chat to you about his unique cocktail menu, one which he has full creative direction and is known for being dynamic, changing as and when John finds inspiration. We of course had to try the Shiraz Negroni, a cocktail recognised and acclaimed in ‘The Negroni: A Gaz Regan Notion’ a blend which features peach bitters, Campari and Drambuie - a great option for those of you who enjoy spice of the cinnamon/festive kind. We also ordered my drink of choice, a G&T but with a tasty Campari-raspberry syrup twist.
Our second round brought us rum with a locally produced rockmelon liqueur (cantaloupe) and a single malt whisky concoction complete with aromatic bitters, Port and Sweet Vermouth. Throw in a couple of delicious oysters sourced daily from the world renowned Sydney Fish Market, and you're set to round off a memorable night sipping cocktails whilst gazing at the enthralling Sydney Harbour view.
Whilst Supper Club's unique identifier is a comprehensive collection of Champagnes, (this is sort of an an understatement as they have 27 different Champagnes to choose from), do as I did and ask John for his suggestion on the cocktail menu that day.
So what are you waiting for? Get ready to not only mix and mingle with the very man who designed Supper Club's menu, but also, prepare to be blown away by the iconic Sydney Harbour panorama - a unique view that you won't find anywhere but at #levelthirtytwo of the InterContinental Sydney.
Great news! Supper Club is open every night of the VIVID InterContinental Sydney festival, so reserve your lounge spot with Supper Club here, cheers!
Thank you so much to the InterContinental Sydney team for hosting us, and a special thank you to Cianne for arranging our visit!
